- KL-Karak Expressway Sinkhole Caused By ECRL Tunnel Work - Minister
The sinkhole that appeared on a section of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Motorway (KLK) near Bentong yesterday is thought to be the result of East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction nearby.
Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Works Minister, said on Twitter that no casualties were reported in the 8.34pm incident and that traffic is still under control.
He went on to say that investigations revealed that the sinkhole was caused by the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) underground tunnel construction works.
A massive sinkhole has been discovered on the kl-karak highway as a result of underground tunnel construction.
According to Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman's recent Facebook update, highway repairs are nearly complete and the road may reopen to motorists today.
“Repair works are almost done. If tests show that it’s safe and okay to use again, the highway can be reopened,” she said.
