Mercedes-Benz is finally following the footsteps of its fellow European marques in revving up its electromobility adoption, as the firm poised to introduce a new ‘entry-level’ EV concept model.

Set to make its debut at the upcoming Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) Mobility show (a.k.a. the Munich motor show), this new EV concept model will be joined by other concept EVs by the marque such as the Vision EQXX, as well as the Vision One-Eleven.

According to Autocar UK, this new concept EV will preview the next-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA, which has recently been spotted testing ahead of its planned debut in 2025. Judging from the teaser image published by the marque, you can see some similarities between this concept EV with the current-gen CLA sedan, notably its sporty coupe roofline and sleek silhouette.
More importantly, this unnamed concept EV will spearhead the marque’s electromobility effort, where it will serve as a base for three new ‘entry level’ EV models, which will be subsequently launched over the next three years. All in all, this is in-line with Merc’s ‘Electric First’ plan to have at least one EV model for every segment by 2025, which also involves lineup simplification efforts.

Drawing inspiration from the aforementioned Vision EQXX concept EV, this new concept EV is designed to provide "vision for class-leading innovation, design and digital experience". Underpinning the marque’s new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, Mercedes-Benz claims this unnamed concept EV boasts a maximum EV range of up to 1,200 KM, enabling it to travel from the marque’s Stuttgart HQ to Goodwood, UK, just on a single charge.
Aside from an astonishing EV range, the MMA platform also promises the new entry-level EV concept to have a quite spacious cabin space, thanks to its slim battery pack design and the absence of transmission tunnel like we’ve seen on many ICE-powered Merc models before.

This all-new entry-level EV concept model is slated to make its public unveiling at the upcoming 2023 IAA Mobility show, which will take place from Sept 5 to 10, 2023. Only by then we’ll get to see this model in full flesh, as well as additional details and specs.
