With the Tesla Malaysia premiere slated for tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Pavilion KL, the internet is buzzing today with images of the automaker's first Superchargers coming to life at Pavilion KL.

Looking at images from Taufiq Duffel on Facebook, the Tesla Supercharger station at Pavilion will have eight V3 Superchargers capable of delivering 250kW DC charging. This would be the first of ten Tesla Supercharger locations revealed, with two planned in KL City. It is believed that these Tesla Superchargers require a total of 600-700V of power to operate.

The Pavilion KL Tesla Superchargers would be installed in basement Level 1 at Pillar C21. However, based on the images, we can see that the Pavilion Supercharger site will not be part of the promised 30% charging network that will be open to all vehicles as part of the BEV programme that facilitated Tesla's entry into Malaysia.

Under MITI's BEV plan, Tesla is required to build 50 Supercharging stations in the country by 2026, with 30% of them open to multi-brand public charging. It is unclear whether Tesla will maintain exclusivity in the remaining nine Tesla Supercharger stations announced across Malaysia as part of its initial supercharger network set-up. We believe Tesla will keep the Tesla-only exclusivity for these early locations in order to support its initial customer base, and will open up the 15 of 50 multi-brand charging Supercharger facilities much later, as the goal delivery date is still three years away.
