Newly-unveiled Nissan Hyper Force Concept completes the marque's quintuplets of EV concepts

Aside from Mazda and Honda, Nissan has also got something big cooking behind the scene Making its first public debut at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2023 today is the all-new Nissan Hyper Force EV concept, completing the five new concept lineup the marque has in store at its showcase.

At one glance, the Hyper Force looks like a futuristic artist impression of the legendary GT-R model, as said concept model boasts several design cues and elements from the ‘Godzilla’. This includes its front face, which looks painstakingly similar to the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R model, complemented by the pixelated GT-R front badge. Not to mention, this concept also sports the GT-R’s signature quad rounded taillights at its rear, completing the whole GT-R homage.

Unlike the GT-R of the past, however, the Hyper Force concept is exclusively powered by an all-electric powertrain capable of delivering up to 1,000 kW (1,341 HP), supplemented by Nissan’s proprietary e-4ORCE all-wheel control technology. In spite of boasting a full battery powertrain setup, Nissan claims that the Hyper Force still managed to weigh relatively light, courtesy of its all-carbon chassis construction and carbon fibre wheels the concept rides on.

Nestled within its sophisticated bodywork are several active aero parts, which include its front lip, rear spoiler, and even fender vents. All of these active aero bits work in-tandem with said e-4ORCE system to provide the Hyper Force with optimum downforce that’ll help to minimise wheel lifts during fast corners.

Moving to its innards, Nissan engineers have collaborated with renowned video game developer Polyphony Digital to develop and design the Hyper Force’s cabin. The Gran Turismo developer has implemented some gaming elements into the Hyper Force, which includes a special helmet that essentially converts the whole cabin into a sim racing setup, all complete with a virtual headset. Aside from that, the car is also equipped with augmented reality (AR) technology that can project digital ghosts on circuits for drivers to attempt to keep up with or beat on track.

Apart from those gaming-inspired bits, the Hyper Force cabin also comes with several driving modes that automatically change all the cabin’s ambient lighting system. In R mode, the cabin lights are coloured red, with all the panels and screens displaying essential racing data for drivers to digest. Meanwhile, the GT mode turns the whole cabin into blue, with said panels and displays now granting drivers with access to other amenities like climate control, audio control, suspension tuning, and many more.

As for now, Nissan has shied away from stating that the Hyper Force will be the basis for future all-electric sportscars by the marque, possibly being the spiritual successor to the storied GT-R bloodline. However, Nissan did mention that the Hyper Force’s design pays homage to “Nissan’s high-performance cars” of the past, so perhaps this is after all could possibly be the successor to the marque’s legendary sports car lineup.
