Sime Darby Motors (SDM) and Gentari Sdn Bhd, specifically through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This arrangement aims to hasten the construction of an EV charging infrastructure, both inside Sime Darby Motors' network and at openly accessible areas. Additional programmes to encourage EV adoption are included in this partnership.
In accordance with the terms of the MoU, SDM and Gentari will work together to set up EV charging stations and associated infrastructure at SDM's automotive facilities throughout Malaysia as well as in other regional markets that SDM serves. In addition, the agreement takes into account areas outside of SDM showrooms, such as golf clubs, hotels, medical facilities, and other possible venues, in an effort to increase the accessibility and convenience of EV charging.

The collaboration will look into value-added services for SDM consumers, like EV charging subscription plans, customised home charging packages, portable charging services, and adaptable mobile charging solutions, in order to promote the adoption of EVs in Malaysia.
In order to meet the evolving needs of businesses and governments seeking cleaner and more sustainable transportation options, the MoU will also examine the potential for a collaboration for EV fleet solutions. The agreement also permits the evaluation of numerous cooperative projects and programmes with the goals of encouraging EV adoption, strengthening infrastructure, and creating fresh EV-related goods and services.
The MoU, which acknowledges the importance of renewable energy, also covers the investigation of solar energy projects, including the installation of solar energy systems and storage options.
