- BYD Sea Lion 07 EV SUV Debuts At The Auto Guangzhou 2023
The BYD Sea Lion 07 has made its global debut at the Auto Guangzhou 2023 motor show
Following its teaser earlier this week, the much-anticipated BYD Sea Lion 07 has finally made its global debut today at the Auto Guangzhou 2023 motor show. Underpinning the same e-platform 3.0 as the Atto 3, this coupe EV SUV is set to join the marque’s new Ocean EV lineup, alongside the Seal sedan and Dolphin hatchback.
Unlike the Atto 3, however, the Sea Lion 07 features BYD’s latest Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration technology. Similar to the Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) setup, the CTB technology integrates the battery directly into the vehicle’s body and floor, thus eliminating the need for the batteries to be assembled in a pack altogether. BYD claims that this new setup allows for up to 66% increase of volume utilisation, while vertical space has increased by 10 MM compared to the standard battery packs setup.
Aside from that, the Sea Lion 07 will also feature BYD’s unique ‘DiSus-C’ intelligent body control system with front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension setup, which promises better driving comfort and stability to this coupe EV SUV.
Measuring 4,830 MM long, 1,925 MM wide, 1,620 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,930 MM, the Sea Lion 07 is a midsize D-segment EV crossover with a sporty coupe SUV body style similar to the Song L. At front, the Sea Lion 07 looks pretty similar to the Seal sedan, featuring what BYD described as its signature ‘Ocean Aesthetic’ design language derived from the Ocean-X concept.
Similar to what we saw on its teaser sketch images, the BYD Sea Lion 07 gets a sporty coupe-style roofline that ends rakishly at its tailgate. At the rear, this coupe EV SUV comes with full-width LED taillights design that looks similar to the Dolphin’s, albeit featuring different light signatures. Also present here is the Sea Lion’s prominent lower rear bumper accent which is integrated with a faux diffuser – both finished in dark hue.
As of writing, BYD has yet to reveal the details regarding both the innards and powertrain specs for the Sea Lion 07. With this coupe EV SUV underpinning a platform that allows both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, we can expect the Sea Lion 07 to be offered with either one of them, if not both altogether.
Set to go against the likes of Tesla Model Y in the competitive Chinese EV SUV market, the all-new BYD Sea Lion 07 is poised to be tagged from CNY 200,000 to CNY 260,000 (RM130,000 to RM170,000 approx.). With many of its details remain shrouded in the dark for now, we can expect to learn more about the Sea Lion 07 in the coming days, so be sure to stay tuned here at Caricarz.com for the update…
