Chery’s showcase at the ongoing Auto Guangzhou 2023 motor show sees the marque displaying its soon-to-be-launched EV model under the Exeed luxury sub-brand, dubbed as the Exeed Sterra ES. Also known as the Exeed Exlantix ES, this EV sedan will be the sub-brand’s first pure electric model, where it will be part of the new Sterra vehicle series.
Ahead of its Auto Guangzhou appearance, we at Caricarz have been given the opportunity to size-up this EV sedan at the Chery International User Summit (CIUS) 2023 happening last Oct.

Coming in at 4,945 MM long, 1,978 MM wide, 1,467 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 3,000 MM, the Sterra ES is positioned as a medium-to-large (D or F-segment) EV sedan. Up front, it gets a pretty sleek design featuring slim LED headlights with full-width DRL. More importantly, this sedan comes with unique pixelated light elements instead of conventional fog lamps, where said unit can be adjusted to display several animations, including one for the turn signals.

From the side, the Sterra ES sports a sleek and extended roofline that makes the car look almost like a fastback. Apart from riding on a set of snazzy 19-inch wheels, this EV sedan also features flushed door handles, which work in-tandem with its slippery body work to deliver a stellar drag coefficient (C.d) rate of 0.205.
At the rear, the Sterra ES boasts full-width LED taillights with pixelated lighting segments, plus a ‘moderate’ lower bumper accent finished in dark hue. Interestingly, the rear-end also comes with an active rear wing that is hidden beneath the tailgate when it is not deployed, giving the Sterra ES a pretty clean look from behind.
The Exeed Sterra ES boasts a pretty minimalist cabin, featuring tons of tech and comfort amenities
On board, the Sterra ES gets a pretty minimalist cabin design, laced with a slew of tech amenities. Key highlights include a 15.6-inch floating central infotainment display powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, a slim 12.3-inch HD digital instrument cluster that hides beneath its two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, plus a floating central console featuring two wireless charging pads.
As a pretty sizable EV sedan, the Sterra ES boasts plenty of space inside, with all of its five seats wrapped in plush leather upholstery that comes in few colours. Topping-off the cabin amenities list are the panoramic glass roof, multi-colour ambient lighting system, as well as an optional 23-speaker Lion Melody sound system.
According to CarNewsChina, the China-bound Exeed Sterra ES will be offered with both single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain options. While the RWD unit is rated at up to 308 HP (230 kW), the peppier dual-motor variant’s total system output is capped at 473 HP (353 kW), which allows this EV sedan to blast from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.7 seconds.
Underpinning Chery’s proprietary E0X all-electric platform with both 400-volt and 800-volt battery architectures, the Sterra ES is juiced by a CATL-sourced battery pack with its exact capacity being kept under the wraps for now. Chery, however, claims that the 800-volt unit allows the Sterra ES to boast a stellar DC fast charging rate, which can supply the car with 150 KM range with just 5 minutes of charging time.
Pre-sales for the soon-to-be-launched Exeed Sterra ES has already begun in the Chinese market
The all-new Chery Exeed Sterra ES EV sedan is slated to make its market entry later in 2024, with pre-sales already commenced in the local Chinese market. Set to be tagged at a price range of CNY 248,000 to CNY 358,000 (RM160,000 to RM230,000 approx.), the Sterre ES is set to go against the likes of the newly-revealed Zeekr 007 and other models in the competitive EV sedan segment in China.
