- Google Map's New AI-Powered Immersive View Is Coming Soon
With the power of artificial intelligence, Google Maps, the king of navigation applications and mapping services, has announced even more updates so that the application evolves in terms of navigation experience while offering improved ways to explore the world.
According to a blog post published by Google on Thursday, Immersive View for Google Maps will receive another update in the coming days that will include a "multidimensional experience" for routes so you can see everything on your trip, including the weather – whether you're driving, walking, or riding your bike – before you leave the house.
You'll be able to preview bike lanes, sidewalks, intersections and parking on your route in the future when you use Google Maps Immersive View. The app will use artificial intelligence and historical driving trends to predict how traffic will look depending on when you'll be on the road. Using the time slider, you can also see air quality information and how the weather changes the route throughout the day.
Google Maps uses artificial intelligence to create 3D models by combining Street View and aerial images. The goal is to make you feel as if you're already in the location you're going to before you even arrive, such as a restaurant or a neighbourhood.
The immersive view will be available in the following cities for Android and iOS users: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence and Venice, Italy, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, California, Seattle, and Tokyo. Google also announced several other Maps features that will be available in the coming weeks and months. Here's a list of them.
Lens in Maps: Lens in Maps uses artificial intelligence and augmented reality to help you find nearby ATMs, transit stations, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.
A more detailed map: Colours on Google Maps are being updated throughout the map, as well as more realistic buildings and improved lane details. You'll also be able to see if there are any HOV lanes along your route very soon.
More EV information: EV drivers on Android and iOS are getting more charging station information, including whether a charger is compatible with their vehicle and whether the chargers are fast, medium or slow. Also, you'll be able to see when a charger was last used (to make sure you get a working charger).
