CAM Malaysia which operates in Malaysia under the Sendok Group has just launched the CAM EA4, a large full electric van based on the ICE version the CAM Placer-X A4.

With the launch of the CAM EA4, CAM Malaysia now has both the large and small segment of the electric van market covered. The CAM EC35, which is CAM Malaysia small electric van offering, was introduced to the Malaysian market in January 2022.

Compared to other electric vans in the Malaysian market, the CAM EA4 offers the longest range in its class, reaching up to 400KM according to NEDC standards. It comes with a 6-year or 200,000 km warranty, whichever comes first, and prices start from RM215,800.

The EA4 would be offered both in panel and window van configuration. Both variants would feature a similar rear driven motor churning out 134HP (100kW) and 320nM torque and feature regenerative braking.

This large van would be powered by a 86.1 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery featuring a 6.6kW AC charging capability. A 22 kW upgrade is also available at additional cost. The 20% to 100% AC charging figures at 6.6kW would be 11 hours while 22kW would deliver a charge time of under 3.5 hours. DC fast charging meanwhile is said to complete a 20% to 100% charge in under 1.5 hours subject to battery and environmental conditions.

The panel van would have a cargo volume of 7.3 cubic metres and a maximum payload of more than 1-tonne. This makes it an ideal choice for businesses across industries, allowing for more efficient trips and quicker job completion.

Meanwhile the window van would come with versatile features such as simplified central control, rear air conditioning units with six roof vents, a wide-opening sliding door, a rear foldable seat for larger storage space, and seating for 12 people, including the driver.

Entertainment features include four stereo speakers and a 7-inch touchscreen LCD with MP3, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth display would be standard on all models. Other notable features are the powered side mirrors with an LED turning signal lamp, a reverse camera and sensor, a high-mounted third brake lamp, and a front fog lamp.

Safety features that would come in all EA4 vans include driver and front passenger airbags, ABS & EBD, low-speed pedestrian alert, driver seat belt reminder, reverse radar and speed limiter.

As part of its after-sales support, CAM has established a network of service centres dedicated to the support and services of its EV fleet. Additionally, the C-MSU (CAM-Mobile Support Unit) program has been introduced, housing service teams capable of providing on-site support for the daily demands of fleet operators and private owners. C-MSU continues to expand its scope throughout the country, supporting periodic maintenance and addressing powertrain issues.
