- New Chery Aero Concept Is (One of) The World’s Most Aerodynamic Car
New Chery Aero concept EV arrives as one of the world's most aerodynamic car ever produced
The Chery International User Summit (2023) last month saw the Chinese automaker preview several upcoming models that are set to debut into our local market some time later. Aside from the barrage of SUVs and crossovers, Chery has also showed its latest EV concept – the Chery Aero Concept – which is touted to be the world’s most aerodynamic car ever made.
The Chery Aero concept achieves a stellar Cd of only 0.168 during testing at Chery's development facility
Such a claim is unsurprising once you get a glimpse of this futuristic EV fastback concept, where it features a very sleek silhouette and sporty roofline. Inspired by the sleek shape of a tuna fish, the Aero concept was actually developed with the help of AI simulations. More importantly, this sleek body style is complemented by no less than four sets of active aero devices – all working in-tandem to help this EV concept achieve its stellar drag coefficient (Cd) rate of only 0.168.
With this Cd figure, Chery immediately touts the Aero concept as the most aerodynamic car ever made, though this claim is immediately rebutted upon further investigation. For example, the Volkswagen ARVW concept achieved a Cd of only 0.15 back in the 1970s, whilst the Ford Probe V concept managed to break this feat back in 1985 by recording an impressive Cd of 0.137.
Regardless, Chery’s effort to make the most aerodynamic car ever is still a laudable one, especially for a car company that was established less than three decades ago. Crucially, this effort is also essential for the development of future EVs by the Chinese automaker, as aerodynamics play a huge role in helping to extract more performance and range out of an EV.

Back to the Chery Aero, this EV concept also boasts several futuristic-looking design elements that are somewhat expected of any concept EVs nowadays. This include slim LED light bars at both ends, illuminated wheels with fully-enclosed design, flushed door handles, as well as side-mounted cameras replacing conventional side mirrors.
Judging from its very futuristic appearance, it is safe to assume that the Aero concept is still far from its final production form, which also explains why Chery is reluctant to reveal any powertrain specs of the new concept. But nonetheless, the new Chery Aero concept promises a very exciting future for the Chinese automaker, especially in this day-and-age of electromobility.
