Tesla To Supply EG Group Supercharger Hardware - "EVPOINT" Charging Network!

Tesla and the EG Group, a major operator of petrol stations and convenience stores in ten (10) countries, have reached an agreement for Tesla to sell its Supercharger technology under the EG brand, "EVPOINT." This arrangement, which was similar in nature, was made with BP not too long ago. BP petrol stations across the United States would use $100 million worth of Supercharger hardware.
Selling Superchargers to other parties on a significant scale is a unique move for Tesla, a closed system car and charging infrastructure company.
Tesla's head of charging infrastructure, Rebecca Tinucci, declared that this represents a change in the company's business strategy. The agreement was verified by EG Group, which also revealed that the chargers will make use of Tesla technology but will function on an open network, making them available to all drivers regardless of the brand of vehicle they drive, and will use the Plug and Charge protocol for easier payment processing. It is anticipated that these new charging units would be available before the year ends.

Unlike the BP deal, the size of the EG Group deal remains undisclosed. Imraan Patel, chief strategy and business officer of EG Group, shared that the company currently has 600 EV chargers and plans to exceed 20,000. This is part of EG Group's three-pronged strategy, focusing on EV charging, alternative vehicle fuels, and broader carbon reduction to aid in the global transition to a lower carbon future.
Rebecca Tinucci also emphasised Tesla's commitment to the rapid installation of reliable EV charging infrastructure and expressed excitement about making their fast-charging hardware available to industry leaders like EG Group.
