According to works minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) underground tunnel will open to the public on November 29, and the five-kilometer-long vehicular roadway, which is part of the Jalan Tun Razak traffic dispersal project, is expected to reduce traffic into the city by 30%.
TRX City Sdn Bhd, the master developer of the 70-acre TRX development, said the five-kilometer underground vehicular tunnel will connect TRX to a network of 12 major roads and highways, including Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Maju Expressway (MEX), SMART Tunnel, and the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE).
The TRX tunnel, which will have direct connections to Jalan Tun Razak and the SMART highway, will also create a loop system that provides access to and from major thoroughfares to various points within the development.
“Vehicles heading to TRX will not add to the current volume of traffic on the surrounding roads.

“They can drive through the tunnel and directly enter the TRX underground parking,” The minister said.
The tunnel has two levels set aside for cars and one more level reserved for utility services. Waze beacons have been placed throughout the tunnel network to guarantee that drivers can navigate it without interruption.
