68 Imported Vehicles Seized By Customs Dept During Ops Kitai

68 vehicles without an import permit (AP) valued at an estimated RM13.897 million were seized by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) Central Zone during Ops Kitai 2023, which took place from August 9 to August 24 around the Port Klang area.
According to Datuk Sazali Mohamad, Deputy Director General of Customs (Enforcement), 46 cars and 22 motorcycles of various makes and models were confiscated during the ops.
The majority of the seized vehicles are from Japan, and their estimated value is RM5.256 million, while the estimated value of all associated duties and taxes is RM8.641 million.

The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 135 (1) (a) of the Customs Act 1957 for importing prohibited goods whose importation is permitted on the condition that it is subject to an Import Permit issued by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
