Specs for the production-ready BYD YangWang U9 EV supercar have hit the web and, unsurprisingly, they're some staggering figures touted.

Specifications for the production-bound BYD YangWang U9 all-electric supercar have made their rounds online and, unsurprisingly, the figures touted by this quad-motored performance offering from China’s biggest EV-maker are quite staggering.

For starters, each of the four motors – one on each wheel – primed generates 322 HP, and it sees a total system output of 1,287 HP altogether. Torque figures weren’t reported by sources online, but this reported horsepower figure marks a sizeable increase over the 1,100 HP figures initially predicted.

Despite the immense power output available, there is however a catch – weight. The BYD YangWang U9 reportedly tips the scale at 2,475 KG, thus making it roughly 175 KG heavier than the benchmark-setting EV supercar that is the Rimac Nevera. Moreover, there’s also the YangWang U9’s size.

Altogether, the YangWang U9's quad-motor setup promises a total of 1,287 HP - higher than the initially predicted 1,100 HP figure.

Not only heavy, BYD’s supercar is also relatively huge as it measures 4,966 MM in length with a 2,900 MM wheelbase figure, 2,029 MM wide, and 1,295 MM tall. Perhaps its size – and subsequent weight – all stems from the equally immense battery pack primed underneath its pretty metal.

Positioned between its two axles is a 100 kWh capacity version of the BYD’s signature ‘Blade’ LFP-type battery. Like the smaller and more mass market-centric new Yuan UP model that leaked earlier this week, this supercar’s battery is also produced by BYD’s battery-making subsidiary FinDreams.

While it may be both large and heavy, BYD touts that the YangWang U9 can rocket off the line rapidly to despatch the century sprint in just 2 seconds flat. As for V-max, the Chinese firm is claiming a 300 KM/H figure. Impressive too is the claimed range BYD touts this supercar being capable of – 700 KM.

Released too are the YangWang U9's dimension and weight figures. Not only large, this Chinese-built EV supercar is also quite hefty at nearly 2.5 tonnes!

However, that last fact may need to be taken with a pinch of salt at least as it is based on the CLTC testing cycle – not WLTP. That aside, there’s indeed much to look forward to in this Chinese-made EV supercar besides beastly performance and commanding presence thanks to its large size.

Promising equally high amount of agility to match the high power outputs, the YangWang U9 will see its chassis primed with a novel new ‘DiSus-X’ suspension tech developed by BYD. To be brief, it’s a system that allows the car to travel on three wheels and it can even bounce up and down.

Immense power aside, the YangWang U9 also promises high agility to match through its adoption of BYD's novel new 'DiSus-X' suspension tech.

Said ‘Disus-X’ suspension makes such acts possible thanks to its incorporation of Damping Body Control System, Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, and Intelligent Air Body Control System. Read about how it all works in our past feature report of it by clicking these blue words…

Lastly, the YangWang U9 also promises to deliver these hypercar-like performance at a relatively ‘affordable’ price, which sources online reporting it will start from RMB1 million – approx. RM661,340. Given its production-ready status, expect an official launch in China some time soon…
