Present were YAB Datuk Sri Wan Rosdy Bin Wan Ismail, Menteri Besar of Pahang, Chery Malaysia’s Executive Vice President Leo Chan and Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang, as well as MP for Petaling Jaya YB Lee Chean Chung.
According to Chery Malaysia, this new 4S centre in Kuantan will cater to customers not just from Kuantan and Pahang state, but also from neighbouring Teregganu and Kelantan too. Aptly, this new flagship outlet is an all-in-one facility featuring a sizeable sales showroom, ample service bays, and a body & paint facility.
During its inauguration held yesterday (Sunday, 3 Dec 2023), a preview of the Chery Omoda E5 EV was also held for the guests mentioned, as well as invited customers. The effort sees this showroom stand as the first in Chery Malaysia’s network to host a customer preview of this upcoming EV crossover model.

The outlet's inauguration also doubled up as a the first customer preview of the Chery Omoda E5.
As a refresher, Chery Malaysia had previewed the Omoda E5 to local press earlier in the same week. Unlike the combustion-powered Omoda 5, this EV twin packs a 61 kWh ‘Blade’ LFP battery that juices a front-mounted motor rated at 201 HP and 340 NM.
You can get to know the Omoda E5 in greater depth through our report of its recent local preview, as well as our first encounter with it in China. For the moment, Chery Malaysia hasn’t disclosed prices or opened up bookings for the model yet, but did confirm plans to launch it sometime in Q1 next year (2024).
Back to the new East Coast 4S outlet and, fittingly, the Omoda E5 preview at said new Kuantan outlet coincided with Pahang MB YAB Datuk Sri Wan Rosdy Bin Wan Ismail’s announcement to accelerate Pahang’s EV charging infrastructure.

During the outlet's inauguration, Pahang MB YAB Datuk Sri Wan Rosdy Bin Wan Ismail’s also announced plans to accelerate Pahang’s EV charging infrastructure.
"The target set by the Kuantan Municipal Council to install 160 charging stations by the year 2025 will further accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles among the people of Pahang,” said the MB in his opening speech during the outlet’s opening event.
After which, Chery Malaysia’s Vice President Lee When Hsiang reiterated the Chery brand’s commitment towards investing over RM 1 billion into Malaysia. This will align Chery with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (#NIMP2030), with this investment focused on promoting local EV production.
