Sime Darby is planning to expand luxury car markets in Indonesia and India. The conglomerate, which is currently largely reliant on its strong market presence in China, is now in a position to diversify its revenue sources in an effort to capitalize on the economic potential of these countries.

Jeffri Salim Davidson, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby, discussed the company's ambitious plans in an exclusive interview with Reuters. With their quickly developing economies, Indonesia and India, especially India, which is the fifth-largest economy in the world, offer substantial growth potential.

"We cannot ignore India," he told Reuters.

"It's just something too big, you cannot ignore. So we're looking for opportunities in India to see whether we can do something with a local partner and start a car retail business there," he added.

Sime Darby has operations in 17 countries already; its entry into these markets is a calculated move to capitalize on this potential.

Establishing a luxury car retail business is the main goal. Sime Darby intends to take advantage of this trend to carve out a niche for itself as the demand for luxury cars rises in these countries. By doing this, the business hopes to expand into new markets and grow its share of the global luxury car market. web_CariCarz_press_Ford-Everest-Wildtrak_-1-full.jpgweb_CariCarz_press_Ford-Everest-Wildtrak_-3-full-(1).jpg

Sime Darby's expansion strategy places a strong emphasis on partnering to explore new opportunities. By leveraging local knowledge and experience and reducing potential risks, working with local organizations could facilitate a more seamless entry into these markets.
