Yinson GreenTech and CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) announced a groundbreaking partnership. Through which, both firms will grant Malaysians a convenient way to own an electric vehicle (EV) through subscription via CelcomDigi postpaid accounts.

The collaboration, witnessed by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz earlier this week, is the result of the Innovation Centre at CelcomDigi teaming up with Yinson GreenTech, the green technology unit of Yinson Holdings Berhad.

Customers can now lease-to-own a rydeEV e-bike by signing up for any of CelcomDigi’s Postpaid 5G plans with the Easy360 instalment plan. This initiative is the first offering following an MoU signed last Sept, with the aim of exploring innovative electric vehicle services and infrastructure to promote EV and green energy adoption in Malaysia.

Tengku Zafrul stated, "The Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry welcomes cross-industry collaboration, and this is well-reflected in policies such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030) and the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP2020)." He highlighted the importance of such collaborations in contributing to Malaysia's net-zero target by 2050.

CelcomDigi CEO, Datuk Idham Nawawi, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Change can come fast if we think differently about cross-industry collaborations." He emphasised the potential to make EVs more accessible to Malaysians at scale, contributing to the future of transportation and environmental sustainability.

Yinson Group CEO, Lim Chern Yuan, commended the government's role in making e-motorcycles more accessible. The exec also expressed excitement about the partnership's role in pioneering the adoption and growth of e-motorcycles in Malaysia.

The subscription model offered by CelcomDigi through the Easy360 instalment plan allows customers to lease-to-own rydeEV e-bikes at RM299 per month (Ryder model) or RM430 per month (Hyper model) for 36 months.

Additional benefits of this subscription model include unlimited battery swaps, road tax, insurance coverage, and e-bike maintenance. Customers also have the option to own the e-bike for just RM1 after the contract period ends.

Early bird customers signing up would receive a free limited-edition helmet, and those eligible for the Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme (MARiiCas) government rebate scheme can enjoy a RM2,400 rebate.

The two rydeEV e-bike models, Ryder and Hyper, offer swappable batteries and cutting-edge green technology, contributing to CelcomDigi's commitment to innovation in connected mobility and Malaysia's 2050 net-zero carbon emission target.
