Chery Malaysia has just announced that the much-anticipated Chery Omoda E5 will be available at Chery showrooms nationwide beginning this weekend, February 24.

Chery enthusiasts and potential buyers are invited to be among the first to see this brand's first electric vehicle (EV) and secure reservations before its official launch in March.

The Omoda E5 is expected to retail at around RM160,000, putting it right on par with the BYD Atto 3, which most first-time EV buyers are comfortable with.

As previously stated, the Malaysian-spec Chery OMODA E5 would have a front-mounted electric motor that drives the front wheels with 201 horsepower rather than 221 horsepower. Torque remains at 340 NM, allowing for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds.

It would also have a maximum WLTP range of 430 kilometres thanks to the 61 kWh high-capacity lithium iron phosphate Blade battery. The Omoda E5 would charge at a rate of 9.9 kW AC and 80 kW DC. At this rate, DC charging can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.

Furthermore, the Omoda E5 will feature Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 (ADAS 2.5), which combines advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and connectivity features, establishing a new standard for advanced driver assistance systems in the electric vehicle market.

Stepping inside the cabin, users will be greeted by a 24.6-inch curved 2K HD dual-screen display that provides an immersive visual experience. Qualcomm chips are used in the intelligent cockpit to enable seamless interaction between the user and the vehicle.

Chery Malaysia also stated that the Omoda E5 performed admirably in rigorous tests such as the Water Wading Test and Bottom Scraping Test, demonstrating its ability to handle a variety of terrains while providing a dependable and safe driving experience.
