During the launch of the Road Safety Campaign for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration happening from February 8, 2024, to February 14, 2024, Lyndon Alfred Felix, CEO of West Coast Expressway (WCE), reiterated WCE's unwavering commitment to supporting the Malaysian Police (PDRM) initiative for a safer driving environment.

The collaboration between the Perak PDRM Contingent and WCE through this safety campaign aims to raise awareness among road users about the importance of prioritising safety for a secure and smooth journey during the festive season.

WCE anticipates a surge in average daily traffic exceeding 120,000 vehicles and has implemented proactive measures, which includes:

  1. No highway lane closure for construction or maintenance work from February 8 to February 14, 2024.
  2. Increasing operational management by up to 20%, including highway personnel like patrol members and toll plaza officers.
  3. Ensuring toll systems function properly to avoid congestion, with additional personnel to assist users facing issues.
  4. Providing an adequate number of Emergency Response Team (ERT) members to expedite response times for highway incidents.
  5. Deploying machinery like tow trucks and cranes strategically to assist in unexpected incidents.
  6. Increasing personnel to maintain restroom cleanliness and ensure adequate water supply at rest areas near toll plazas.
  7. Ensuring effective operation of Variable Messaging Systems (VMS) and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for safety.
