Scania CL20N Battery-Electric Waste-Collection Truck Mobilised In Singapore

Scania Singapore announces delivery of a fleet of 15 Scania CL20N Battery-Electric Waste-Collection trucks to ALBA W&H Smart City with ten units already in service at the end of 2023.
According to Scania, the CL20N would service the Woodlands-Yishun sector for the collection of general waste and recyclable items. The CL20N is powered by a 210 kW (310 HP) motor with a two-speed gearbox.

Oscar Wyckman, Country Manager of Scania Singapore, emphasised the significant impact of these trucks on ALBA W&H Smart City's waste collection operations, citing their nearly zero emissions contributing towards the organisations sustainability targets.
The Scania CL20N battery-electric truck addresses the operational needs of ALBA W&H Smart City by optimising energy consumption, which is crucial for tasks like refuse compaction and lifting operations.

Beyond emission reductions, these trucks offer operational improvements such as enhanced manoeuvrability and reduced noise pollution. Furthermore, the Scania CL20N boasts a slew of safety features which includes Traction Control, Electronic Stability Management and advanced driver-assistance systems. These ensure safety for both the crew and other road users.

ALBA W&H Smart City's decision to opt for Scania's electric trucks was driven by their capability to handle high-energy route profiles while maintaining zero tailpipe emissions on a single battery charge while delivering a respectable range of 150 KM thanks to its 165 kWh battery.

By electrifying their fleet, ALBA W&H Smart City aims to save up to 2,700 tonnes of carbon-dioxide emissions annually, aligning with their vision for a sustainable future and commitment to eco-conscious practices all while demonstrating leadership in waste management and environmental stewardship.
