- Volkswagen Creating AI Lab To Harness Technology
The Volkswagen Group has revealed that it has founded a new business to work with tech firms in North America, Europe, and China to create innovative artificial intelligence solutions.
Volkswagen revealed at CES 2024 that it would be integrating OpenAI's ChatGPT platform into its cars. The goal of this integration is to help drivers have more engaging conversations, respond to their questions, get information specific to their vehicles, and enjoy additional features.
Volkswagen now claims that the AI Lab will find and organize new product concepts for the team. The company says that this will also involve working with the tech industries in North America, Europe, and China as needed.
With this strategy, the Volkswagen Group hopes to maximize the innovation potential and speed of the artificial intelligence industry by streamlining partnerships with tech firms.
“We want to offer our customers genuine added value with artificial intelligence. We aim to link external digital ecosystems with the vehicle, creating an even better product experience,” says Oliver Blume, CEO of the Volkswagen Group and Porsche AG.
AI Lab will act as an incubator for the Volkswagen Group rather than producing production models. The company will search the globe for fresh product concepts related to artificial intelligence.
When the need arises, AI Lab will collaborate with partners to develop extremely promising concepts in order to create early prototypes. AI Lab will collaborate closely with all of the brands and have a staff of artificial intelligence specialists. Senior executives from each of the brand groups will comprise the Supervisory Board.
