- Ferrari And SK On Extends Technological Partnership
Ferrari's CEO Benedetto Vigna and Chief R&D Officer Ernesto Lasalandra have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SK On’s CEO Lee Seok-hee. From which, both firms have renewed their ongoing technological partnership, and seeks to expand it further.
This relationship began in 2019, with SK On, a leading EV battery producer, supplying its battery cells for Ferrari's hybrid vehicles. Their collaboration began with the SF90 Stradale and the SF90 Spider.
Since then, SK On's cutting-edge battery tech has powered subsequent Ferrari models like the 296 GTB and 296 GTS, as well as the very latest SF90 XX Stradale Spider specials. The latter debuts as the first road-legal XX-badged Ferrari models, outputting 1,016 HP thanks to its super-PHEV powertrain setup.
Vigna emphasised the value of this collaboration by saying "When companies and suppliers work together, it drives mutual progress."
Meanwhile, Lee Seok-hee shared Vigna's statement, stating that SK On is excited to contribute to Ferrari's tradition of innovation in the sports vehicle sector. He underlined the possibility of integrating both firms' skills and technologies to provide unrivalled experiences and value to customers.
The signing of the MoU not only marks the continuation of a successful cooperation, but also reaffirms both companies' commitment in pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation as they look into reinventing the future of sports electric mobility.
