According to Bernama, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living's Kelantan branch has authorized the building of two non-subsidized gas stations for foreign nationals in Rantau Panjang and Jeli.

According to Azman Ismail, director of Kelantan KPDN, the Rantau Panjang station is currently under construction, while the Jeli station is waiting for permission from the finance ministry to convert its fuel from subsidized to non-subsidized.

These will be in addition to the non-subsidized gas stations that are currently located in Wang Kelian and Padang Besar, Perlis. In February 2023, Perlis introduced unsubsidized fuel to the market. At that time, RON95 gasoline was sold for RM3.22 per litre, while diesel was priced at RM3.45 per litre.

Unsubsidized gas stations would help solve the issue of foreign nationals hurrying to fill up at regular stations in the state and would help stop gasoline and diesel from being smuggled into neighboring countries, Azman said.

In Perlis, sales of fuel that was subsidized decreased by 15.7% for RON95 and 15.7% for diesel in the first two months of the program, according to a report released by NST last year. In the meantime, sales of RON95 and diesel increased by 42.27% and 14.75%, respectively, at the two gas stations that sold unsubsidized fuel.
