Neta’s EV production facility in Indonesia is set to commence production and assembly later in May 2024.

Chinese EV marque Neta is about to kick-start the local EV assembly (CKD) at its production facility in Indonesia. Set to take place later in May this year, this dedicated EV plant is located at Ungu Bekasi in West Java province, with the whole CKD project borne out of Neta Indonesia’s partnership with local assembly company PT Handal Indonesia Motor (PTHIM).

The Neta V will be the first model to be locally-assembled at Neta's Indonesia plant.

The first model set to roll off Neta Indonesia’s plant is the Neta V, which was previously launched as a fully-imported (CBU) unit from China in August last year. Currently on sale at a promotional price of IDR 317 million (approximately RM95,380), the CKD project promises to further make the Neta V more affordable to the masses.

Beside the Neta V, the CKD plant will also be in charge of assembling several other EV models from Neta’s lineup. Although Neta Indonesia has yet to detail the exact models, the automaker said they will be introduced later in Q2 2024, with the CKD plant boasting an annual production capacity of 27,000 units.

Neta EVs will also be locally-assembled at the upcoming NexV Manufacturing Plant, which is set to be completed some time this year.

This Indonesian CKD production is part of Neta’s larger ASEAN market expansion plan, where the EV marque also began its CKD operations in Thailand through a partnership with local automotive player Bangchan General Assembly. Closer to home, Neta EVs will also be assembled here in Malaysia at the upcoming NexV Manufacturing Plant, located in the Chembong Industrial Area in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.

Currently, Neta Malaysia only offers the Neta V for the Malaysian market, priced at RM100,000 on-the-road. Aside from the V, Neta Malaysia previously showcased the sporty Neta S last year, although the sporty EV saloon won’t make its way to our market at least until 2025.
