Only five days after Chery Malaysia's original statement recognising the viral brake failure incident reported by a customer on social media, the Chinese automotive giant has disclosed its findings on the topic.

According to Chery Malaysia, their technical team conducted a thorough investigation into the incident while keeping the vehicle owner informed throughout the entire process. In addition, Puspakom, an independent external vehicle inspection service provider, also conducted a thorough examination of the vehicle to provide an unbiased appraisal.

According to Chery Malaysia, Puspakom performed a rigorous 10-point inspection, including the all-important brake test in question, which assessed efficiency, dynamic imbalance, run-out, residual force, and parking brake functionality in order to ensure optimal braking performance.

All of the tests listed led both Chery Malaysia's and Puspakom's inspection teams to believe that there were no negative findings, confirming the vehicle's safety and satisfactory brake system performance.

Furthermore, the results of the tests mentioned were also communicated to the customer in question, along with a complete report describing all inspection findings.

According to Chery Malaysia, the company takes this matter extremely seriously because safety is always at the top of their priority list, both globally and locally. Chery currently markets its vehicles in over 80 countries worldwide.

Chery, which only recently entered the global market in April 2023 with the Omoda 5, had already sold over 130,000 units globally (excluding China) as of March 2024 indicating increased sales trend coupled with rave reviews.

Here in Malaysia, the Chery Omoda 5 also received recognition from a variety of local news outlets. It was also awarded the Outstanding Warranty Award at the Malaysia International Motor Expo in 2023.
