Since the commencement of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 special operations on April 1, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has identified 16,142 cases of speeding using Automated Awareness Safety System cameras.
According to Datuk Lokman Jamaan, JPJ's Senior Enforcement Director, 95% of these offenders were driving between 130 and 170 KM/H, with the remaining 5% exceeding 170 KM/H.

Lokman further stressed that drivers would need to take responsibility for their own and others' safety by complying to speed restrictions. By doing so it would drastically lower daily accident rates and fatalities, particularly during the holiday season.
He made these statements during a press briefing during an Integrated Motorcycle Operations, which took place in Meru Raya over the festive season leading to 1,464 motorcycles being seized.
