The Deputy Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan announced today that the North-South Expressway (PLUS) lane-expansion project, which was initially planned from Sedenak to Simpang Renggam in Johor, will now extend all the way to the Ayer Hitam exit.

The extension will cover an additional 17 KM bringing the new total length to 37 KM, which would not incur any extra costs, as explained by Ahmad Maslan. This project will see the above-mentioned stretch expanded from four lanes to a six lane highway at a cost of RM931 million.

According to the deputy minister, the ministry is also assessing the value to extend the expansion to Ayer Hitam, given the substantial allocation. The project, which is scheduled to start this year, was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last year as part of the 2024 Budget.
