Google has announced new support for games, videos, and internet browsers in Android Auto.

Google has announced a few new updates for both its Android Auto and Google Built-In on-board automotive software. Specifically for the former, Google has added a slew of new features to further enhance the user experience for Android Auto.

This new update will add support for games, videos, and internet browser to Android Auto.

For this latest update, Android Auto will feature support for games, video streaming, and even internet browsers. Already featured in several Google Built-In-enabled vehicles, these new functions are aimed at delivering an immense user experience to existing Android Auto users worldwide.

Besides video streaming and browser functionalities, Google also announced that communication and weather apps for Android Auto are currently in the beta phase of their development, both of which will make their way to customers in the near future.

As for the Google Built-In, users can expect a slew of new games and apps via this latest update, including Angry Birds, as well as both Max and Peacock video streaming services. Selected Google-built-in vehicles will also receive the Google Cast app, which will enable people to cast videos from their smartphones or tablets onto in-car infotainment displays while parked.

On top of functions like games, browsers, and weather forecast apps, the tech giant also noted that Google Built-In will also allow support for communication apps in the near future.

On the topic of apps, Google is also in the midst of bringing more mobile apps to their on-board automotive software with no additional work for developers. As part of this effort, Google will “proactively review mobile apps that are already adaptive and large screen compatible to ensure safety and compatibility in cars.” This simply means that we can expect more mobile apps to make their way to both Android Auto and Google Built-In in the future.

On the other hand, Google has also just launched a series of mini games to promote the upcoming Android Auto and Google Built-In features. To help promote these new minigames, Google has pleaded for help from the McLaren F1 Team, with its promotional videos set to include both the current McLaren F1 drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
