14 Roads Closed in Phases for King's Installation Ceremony on Saturday - July 20

In preparation for His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim's installation as the 17th King of Malaysia at Istana Negara on Saturday, July 20, 2024, fourteen (14) city highways will be progressively closed. This step is intended to facilitate smooth traffic movement during the event.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa further stated that the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will deploy 387 personnel to handle traffic management. Their responsibilities will include escorting dignitaries, controlling traffic, and enforcing regulations.

The roads affected by these closures are;

  • Jalan Tun Razak
  • Jalan Kia Peng
  • Jalan Raja Chulan
  • Jalan Ampang
  • Jalan Sultan Ismail
  • Sultan Iskandar Expressway
  • Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim
  • Jalan Semantan
  • Jalan Damansara
  • Jalan Istana
  • Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway
  • Jalan Kuching (southbound)
  • Dato Onn Roundabout
  • Jalan Parlimen


Rusdi further added that road closures will begin in stages from 8AM for the installation ceremony and will be implemented again at 8PM for the Royal Banquet.

These temporary road closures are intended to ensure the punctual arrival of royal guests and will be reopened immediately once guests have passed through.

He also urged motorists to steer clear of the affected roads to avoid traffic congestion and to comply with instructions from traffic police officers on duty.
