- Government Announced Major Improvements On Mahameru-Jalan Tun Razak
The 1.4 km stretch from Mahameru to Jalan Tun Razak has been identified as a major congestion hotspot in the capital city. Much-needed improvements to this notorious bottleneck are scheduled to take place with the goal of reducing the daily gridlock.
According to DBKL, the cause of the gridlock in this area is a lack of a lane for vehicles to enter the main route from Jalan Tun Razak, as well as a lane to enter Jalan Ipoh.
The improvement plan calls for widening five bridge structures at various locations, including the KTMB railway tracks, Jalan Kuching, Sungai Batu, and the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah overpass, as well as adding a lane to Jalan Tun Razak in both directions and installing barriers to direct traffic flow.
The project cost RM75mil and was approved in Rolling Plan 4 of the 2019 Eleventh Malaysia Plan (RP4 Year 2019 RMKe-11) and intended to accommodate the growing number of vehicles and ensure a more comfortable commute for everyone.
