Tesla Announces Uber Integration For Easy Navigation For Drivers

Web_CariCarz_Tesla-Model-3-02-full-(4)-(1)-full.jpg EV giant Tesla and Uber have teamed to offer drivers a new in-car navigation feature that shows pickup, dropoff, and directions right on the Tesla center screen. By removing the need for phone displays, this integration provides drivers with a more efficient driving experience, streamlining ride management.
Uber drivers who own Teslas can now take rides straight from their phones thanks to a collaboration that was first reported by Electrek. Following your approval, the Tesla center screen will display all the information regarding the pickup and drop-off, including directions:
“Enjoy bigger and bolder navigation. Once you accept a trip request on your phone, pickup and dropoff info will be sent to your Tesla screen automatically.” tesla-uber-integration.jpg

Uber is also showcasing its connectivity in an effort to alleviate worries about battery life:

“When you connect the Uber app to your Tesla, you can enable battery-aware matching so you’ll only see trip requests within your Tesla’s battery range.”

The good news is that the application works with both Android and iPhone, which is a major plus because smartphone owners of the former brand have historically been let down by having to wait until Tesla releases features, sometimes long after they do for the iPhone. Uber drivers typically use their phones on some kind of mount to do everything from accept rides to check the directions using their smartphone. Thanks to the integration, an Uber driver won't have to look at their phone to get directions—part of their job can now be shown on a center screen.

With Tesla's navigation constantly updated, this could be the most accurate way to get a ride, as well as help avoid delays thanks to Tesla's live traffic visualization, assuming the driver has Premium Connectivity.
Uber and Tesla previously had a strategic partnership in which Uber provided incentives to its drivers to utilize Tesla cars. In an effort to incentivize its drivers to switch to a Model 3 or Model Y, the company launched a program earlier this year that will pay drivers up to $2,000. Tesla seems to be giving drivers even more of an incentive to switch to Uber by incorporating the ride-sharing and navigation services right away into the car.
