Dashcam footage capturing a dramatic and fiery tanker lorry accident has gone viral. In it, we can see a tanker lorry losing control before crashing into and piercing the armco divider barrier and careen across multiple lanes in the path oncoming traffic, bursting into flames in the process.

Based on the dashcam video’s time/date stamps and accompanying caption uploaded to the DashCam Owners Malaysia Facebook page, said incident occurred on the Southbound stretch of the ELITE Highway near Bandar Serenia in the late morning hours just before noon.

In the main video of the incident, we can see that the out-of-control tanker lorry narrowly missing several vehicles, including one motorcycle, when it careened into the oncoming lane. It remains unclear at this point if the runaway tanker had taken out other vehicles and motorist here.

Needly to say, motorists who bore witness and dodged the fiery out-of-control tanker as it came crashing through into their direction were lucky. However, typical of most incidents as such, we reckon there are others who weren’t as lucky.

Through the same posting, a collection of videos detailing the aftermath were also posted. In it, we can also see the wrecked tanker lorry ablaze on the emergency lane facing the wrong way, a wrecked red sedan on the opposing side of the highway, and mangled divider barriers.

At the time of writing, casualties resulting from this incident remains unclear, but at least two vehicles – the tanker lorry in question and red sedan mentioned – are involved. Further footage also show traffic coming to a crawl on both directions of the ELITE highway due to which.

Certainly, incidents as such stands as another reminder to always be safe and vigilant when driving on our roads. We also cannot overstate the benefits of equipping your vehicle with a dashcam – or ‘digital/driving video recorder’ (DVR), as how some carmakers term them as.
