- Chery Previews New Radical Fulwin EV Wagon Concept
Ahead of the Auto Guangzhou 2024 motor show, Chery has previewed its radical Fulwin EV wagon concept.
Chery has cooked up some interesting concepts of late, and the Wuhu-based marque is slated to unveil one at the upcoming Auto Guangzhou 2024 motor show. Although no names were christened to it for now, this radical concept will be part of the marque’s Fulwin new energy vehicle (NEV) series.
Featuring a sleek fastback wagon bodystyle, this EV concept gets an aggressive front face thanks to the distinctive LED headlights and DRLs, while its rear-end gets a full-width light bar featuring similar LED graphics as the front ones. Aside from its sleek fastback wagon silhouette, the concept also features side-view cameras in place of physical side mirrors, an active rear spoiler, massive wheels with a blocky spoke design, and more.
While no interior photos were shared by Chery for now, this concept is said to feature a pretty elaborate yet minimalist cabin space layout. Key pieces of equipment primed in this digital cockpit include a massive 15.6-inch infotainment screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, a built-in AI voice assistant, a 23-speaker audio system, as well as fully-reclinable front seats.
As far as any futuristic concepts go, Chery’s new EV wagon concept boasts a pretty ambitious list of hi-tech equipment, with the most impressive thing being the 800-volt platform it underpins, which comes with a solid-state battery, CarNewsChina reports. Chery claims the solid-state battery system is good enough to provide the wagon concept up to 1,500 KM of EV range in a single full charge.
If that’s not hi-tech enough for you, Chery also promises this concept to be powered by a hi-revving e-motor setup that can catapult this wagon from 0-100 KM/H in just three seconds, en route to its top speed of 260 KM/H. To complement this peppy powertrain setup, the concept will also get a four-wheel steering system while riding on a dual-chamber air suspension system for good measure. And before we forget, Chery also claims this concept is ready to adopt a level 3 driving assistance system.
While all these hi-tech bits may sound like a list for any automotive engineer’s dream project, some of these technologies are actually not far-off from being production ready. For instance, Chery has been working on a solid-state battery system for years, with the automaker planning to debut its production version as early as 2026. With that being said, we can expect to learn more about this radical EV wagon concept once we see it in the flesh at the upcoming Auto Guangzhou 2024, happening from Nov 15 to 24.
