- Kia APAC EV Day 2024: EV3 Plus EV4 & PV5 Concept Showcased
Kia marked a major milestone with the 2024 EV Day in Taiwan, reiterating its commitment to sustainable mobility across Asia Pacific (APAC).
The event showcased Kia's latest electric models and concepts, spotlighting its goal to lead the EV transformation in the region and Carz.com.my was lucky enough to witness it first hand.
Kia EV3: Compact EV SUV for Everyday Drivers
Making its debut, the Kia EV3 brings the innovation of the larger EV9 SUV to a compact form. Built on Kia's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV3 embodies the brand's “Opposites United” design philosophy, blending sportiness and practicality.
Designed to be Kia's entry level offering in the EV space, it includes Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) and a full suite of driver assistance systems, such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
The EV3, with its sloping roofline, boxy rear fenders, and robust stance, much alike the EV9 is set for release in select APAC countries starting 2025.
Concept EV4 and PV5: Future-Focused Design and Versatility
The event also unveiled two forward-thinking concepts. The Concept EV4 sedan, built under the ‘Power to Progress’ theme, features a spacious, luxurious interior with organic design elements inspired by nature. Targeted as a premium EV, the EV4 aims to blend style with advanced technology, catering to drivers who seek a high-end experience.
Meanwhile the Concept PV5, Kia’s first Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), is a versatile design engineered for multipurpose mobility solutions. Intended for applications in ride-hailing, logistics, and personal leisure (think glamping), the PV5’s minimalist design allows customization for various uses, from business to recreational needs.
Kia EV9: The Flagship Electric SUV
On display was also Kia EV9, the brand’s acclaimed flagship electric SUV that has won multiple awards, including the 2024 Women’s World Car of the Year Supreme Winner. The EV9 which is also available in the Malaysian market in two GT-Line variants starting from RM369,668 exemplifies Kia’s leadership in EV SUVs.
The Kia EV9 integrates Kia's latest technologies in safety, performance, and design, setting a high standard in the electric SUV category and as mentioned above a baseline from which the EV3 was developed from.
Expanded EV Offerings and Customer Experience
At the 2024 EV Day, Kia also shared its broader strategy to offer a full lineup of EVs at various price points, complemented by hybrid and PBVs offerings, addressing diverse market demands. In addition to electrification, Kia will continue offering internal combustion vehicles in select markets.
Kia aims to operate six global EV production hubs by 2025 to meet the growing EV demand, targeting sales of 1.6 million EVs per year by 2030.
The brand is also elevating the customer experience through integrated, premium touchpoints across its stores, vehicles, and mobile platforms, ensuring a cohesive and modern journey for Kia owners.
At the same time, Kia also emphasised on its commitment to sustainable mobility, charting a clear roadmap for a greener future across APAC.
