An EV fire involving a Neta V, which  was completely destroyed, was reported in the early hours of Saturday morning on the Northbound PLUS Highway at KM277.6.

According to the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Station, the department received an emergency call at 3:31AM, prompting immediate dispatch of a nine-member team, led by Senior Fire Officer Mohd Gaddafi, to the scene.

The team arrived equipped with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a tanker, and two motorcycles.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the Neta EV fully engulfed in flames. Extinguishing efforts were conducted using a portable water mist, two initial hoses, and a foam hose.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the vehicle’s occupants, and the firefighting operation concluded at approximately 6:10AM.

Driver's Account of the Incident

The vehicle owner commented on the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Station Facebook post where he detailed that his Neta V struck a tire lying in the fast lane, which immediately caused the car to emit smoke. Recognising the potential danger, the driver quickly exited the vehicle with other occupants. Approximately five minutes after the collision, the EV caught fire.

"Neta saved our lives," the driver stated. "The airbags deployed as expected, and the seat design protected us from impact. I was able to take control and steer the vehicle to the emergency lane, allowing everyone to exit safely. Although we lost our Neta, we are grateful for its safety features, as we suffered no injuries."

Statement from Neta’s Malaysian Distributor, Intro Synergy

Intro Synergy, Neta’s distributor in Malaysia, issued a statement acknowledging the incident and affirming that it was an isolated case resulting from a road hazard. The company assured that its technical team would collaborate closely with local authorities to investigate the cause of the fire. Neta reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in its vehicles.

At Carz.com.my, we commend the quick response from the Fire and Rescue Department, as well as Neta’s distributor. Additionally, we also reached out to Neta’s principal office in Malaysia and were assured that Neta will be transparent on all findings on this matter.

Despite the total loss of the vehicle, what’s most important is that the EV’s safety systems performed as intended, protecting its occupants and allowing them to escape unharmed. Following this incident, the focus now shifts to further investigation and a resolution involving insurance compensation.

This incident underscores the importance of comprehensive EV safety features and the swift response of emergency services in mitigating potentially tragic outcomes.
