Pedas RSA: Nation's First 350 kW EV Charging Corridor Powered by Gentari & Tesla
Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, will soon welcome Malaysia's first privately-operated Rest Service Area (RSA) at KM 241 on the Southbound side of the PLUS North-South Expressway.
Developed by Levn Capital with the approval of the Malaysian Highway Authority (Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia - LLM), the Pedas RSA will offer a new experience for travellers southbound. According to a representative from Levn Capital, Pedas RSA is targeted to be ready in Q4, 2025.
Located just 84 KM south of Kuala Lumpur, Pedas RSA serves as a gateway along one of the busiest highway routes. With dual access from both the expressway and local roads, it will cater to highway travellers and the surrounding Taman Pinggiran Pedas community, including students from nearby institutions such as Kolej Komuniti, ILP Pedas & UITM Rembau.
Future-Ready with the Electric Vehicle Charging Corridor (EVCC)
The Pedas RSA will also house Malaysia’s first Electric Vehicle Charging Corridor (EVCC) featuring 350 kW DC fast chargers. The charging facilities here will be developed in partnership with Gentari and Tesla, allowing EV drivers to recharge quickly and reliably.
The Pedas RSA will also house Petronas and Shell refuelling stations, creating a full-service hub for both EV and ICE users alike.
Sustainable Design and Modern Amenities
As a Platinum-rated Green Building, Pedas RSA will incorporate rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient lighting, exemplifying a commitment to sustainability. Travellers can enjoy a “mall-like” environment featuring F&B from popular brands like McDonald's, Coffee Bean, and Tealive, as well as spacious, naturally lit dining areas. The RSA's ESG-focused design will reduce environmental impact, making it a model for future highway stops.
Strategic Location for a High-Traffic Corridor
Strategically located on the busy route between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, Pedas RSA is well-positioned to serve commuters, long-distance travellers, and local communities. The dual-access layout ensures easy entry and exit for both southbound road users and the adjourning local community.
A Model for the Future of Highway Travel
Pedas RSA sets a new standard for highway rest stops by integrating advanced EV charging, sustainable design, and a curated retail experience. According to Levn Capital, with support from industry-leading partners, Pedas RSA will redefine highway travel in Malaysia, creating an efficient, eco-friendly, and enjoyable stop for every traveller.
In addition to the Pedas RSA, Negeri Sembilan will soon host another 350 kW DC fast charging hub by ChargEV at the Seremban R&R Southbound. Like the EV Charging Corridor (EVCC) at Pedas RSA, this hub aims to be Malaysia’s first-ever DC fast-charging hub along the PLUS highway.
However, just like Pedas RSA, details on the exact launch date and the number of EV charging bays at ChargEV Seremban R&R Southbound still remain unspecified. It seems a race is underway to see which facility will compete first and officially claim the title of “First EV Fast Charging Hub in Malaysia.”
