- SIB And Mili Tech Sdn Bhd Form JV To Accelerate Local EV Growth
SIB Mili Sdn Bhd, a strategic new joint venture by Sapura Industrial Berhad (SIB) and Mili Tech Sdn Bhd, was formalised this week with a binding heads agreement signing ceremony.
Local automotive parts manufacturing and engineering firm Sapura Industrial Bhd (SIB), together with Mili Tech Sdn Bhd, a local electric vehicle (EV) service, repair and maintenance plus training solutions firm, have come together to form a new strategic joint venture christened as SIB Mili Sdn Bhd.
Signing the binding heads agreement were SIB Group’s President of Industrial Business Fazal Othman Bin Mohd Ghazali and Mili Tech Sdn Bhd’s founder and chief executive director Mohd Farid Bin Abd Manaf.
Also present to oversee said ceremony were SIB’s founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Ir. Shamsuddin Bin Abdul Kadir, along with SIB executive director Puan Sri Datin Seri Mariam Parineh.
The joint venture was formalised through the signing ceremony mentioned between both firms that follows up from an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed back in April 2024.
SIB Mili Sdn Bhd is set to commence operations in Kajang through three new flagship service centres that it plans to establish over the next three years.
Both firms jointly stated that this new venture is aimed at accelerating the growth of EVs in the local market by directly focusing on several critical areas that directly supports the nation’s sustainable mobility aims.
These key areas include after-sales service and maintenance for xEVs, refurbishment, repurposing and recycling (3R) of xEV batteries, as well as training and certification of local talent to meet growing demand for xEV-related expertise.
Operations under the newly formed SIB Mili Tech Sdn Bhd entity are set to commence in Kajang via three new flagship service centres that the firm plans to establish over the next three years.
Key areas of focus for the firm includes after-sales service and maintenance of xEVs, xEV battery refurbishment, repurposing and recycling, as well as training and certifying local talent for the areas mentioned.
“Our focus on battery recycling and talent development is key to ensuring long-term success in the electrification journey,” emphasised SIB’s Fazal Othman via an official press statement issued by the firm this week.
Echoing which was Mili Tech Sdn Bhd’s Mohd Farid, who added that the collaboration “will enhance the xEV landscape in Malaysia by providing innovative services, while also supporting the country’s broader sustainability goals.”
Farid continued further by highlighting how SIB Mili Sdn Bhd will also contribute to a circular economy and ensure the shift to EVs in Malaysia is both efficient and environmentally responsible.
