According to JPJ Perlis director Fatimah Mohamed Ali Piah, who was quoted by NST, the department successfully collected RM31,600 in unpaid compounds from Thai vehicles during a 4-day special operation known as Ops Pemandu Warga Asing (PeWA).
The operation, which involved 16 Thai vehicles took place  on 11, 16, 21 and 28 October.
She stated that there are still many Thai vehicles that have failed to pay outstanding summonses for various traffic offences, some of which date back several years.

According to Fatimah, among the violations found are the absence of the International Circulation Permit (ICP) for tourist vans registered in Thailand and a number of technical infractions, including the use of tinted windows.
"These vehicle owners must first settle their compounds, which include road traffic penalties dating back several years," she told reporters after inspecting a roadblock in Jalan Kuala Perlis-Changlun in Pauh Putra today.
