According to The Star, a representative from DBKL's Urban Transportation Department stated that the city council has made modifications to the trial bus lane project on Jalan Kelang Lama and Jalan Puchong, including lowering the dedicated bus lane along Jalan Puchong and making certain adjustments to the Jalan Kelang Lama section.

The spokesperson added that DBKL recognised that the Jalan Kelang Lama stretch was particularly difficult, especially during peak hours when the number of buses plying the area is considerable.
“The Jalan Puchong bus lane was reduced by about 600m, while the bus lane at the Jalan Kelang Lama-Jalan Desa intersection was modified to allow cars to use it to switch lanes.

“We made some adjustments based on our evaluation of the stretch, alongside feedback from the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros), Rapid Bus and Transport Ministry,” said the spokesperson, adding that the changes were implemented in phases and completed by the end of November.
For the record, the trial bus lane project was started on August 15 of this year in response to several complaints from local residents of Puchong and Jalan Kelang Lama, Selangor.

However, Rapid Bus stated that the positive outcomes of previous trials on Jalan Ampang and Jalan Genting Kelang, which demonstrated higher ridership and shorter travel times, had an impact on the decision to construct the bus lane on Jalan Kelang Lama.

This trial bus lane project on Jalan Kelang Lama, which was part of a larger plan announced in Budget 2025, saw an 11% decrease in travel time (from 81 minutes to 72 minutes) and a 6% increase in ridership (from 7,900 to 8,400) when compared to the time before the project was introduced, according to Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Ku Jamil Zakaria
