Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated earlier today that the Director of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Enforcement Division will conduct an immediate investigation into the fatal accident at the Ayer Keroh toll intersection that claimed seven lives on Monday night.

He further added that JPJ will also take appropriate follow-up actions against the truck and tour bus operators involved and intensify enforcement on heavy commercial vehicles to ensure road safety compliance.

Loke also extended condolences to the victims' families, noting that initial investigations revealed the accident was caused by a trailer truck's tire detaching, leading a tour bus to swerve and collide with three oncoming vehicles.

The accident occurred around 8:30 PM on the PLUS Highway (KM 204.0) and involved five vehicles, including a Toyota Estima MPV, a trailer truck, and a tour bus. The fatalities included MPV passengers Khairul Izwan, Fadzlenna, their youngest child Muhammad Umar (2), Fadzlenna’s father Ramli Ab Wahab (66), and bus driver Noorisnien Khamid (56).

Two other victims are yet to be identified. Surviving children, Nur Sofea Humaira (4) and Muhammad Uwais Al-Qarni (7), are receiving treatment at Melaka Hospital, along with another injured child relative.
