The 2025 BYD Atto 3 has leaked thanks to documents filed with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Revealed through which are the EV crossover’s subtle but sharpened design tweaks, and more.

One of the most noticeable changes is the redesigned front bumper, which now boasts a more aggressive and dynamic design. Both the grille and headlights remain unchanged, whereas the rear bumper has been revised to align with the front's. New here too is roof spoiler featuring dual vertical brake lights a la the GAC GS3 Emzoom.

Other exterior updates include redesigned roof pillars and decorative silver stripes along the lower edges of the car, which add a premium touch to its overall aesthetics. There are no interior images revealed from this leak, thus indicating that perhaps this update will most likely be confined to the exterior only.

Another key and visible change is the presence of a front bumper-mounted camera. This likely  suggests that the 2025MY Atto 3 might gain an uprated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features thanks to BYD’s recent partnership with DJI in exploring this cutting-edge tech.

In Malaysia, the Atto 3 underwent several specification changes since it first launched in Dec 2022. Initially, two variants were offered - Standard Range packing a 49.9-kWh battery pack with a 410 KM range and an Extended Range guise primed with a 60.4-kWh battery boasting a 480 KM range figure instead.

In May 2024, the Extended Range was dropped, leaving the Standard Range on sale, but this would change again in  Sept 2024 when the Extended Range was reintroduced with the new "Enhanced" trim priced at RM149,800.

Although no launch date has been announced yet, credible online sources in China reportedly that BYD will start rolling out this renewed version of its Atto 3 rollout in the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, as the MIIT filing also typically signals the start of trial production.

Once this happens, we are sure it won’t be long before Malaysia’s most popular EV SUV sees yet another update.
