The Road Transport Department (JPJ) launched its “Ops Khas Tahun Baru Cina 2025” and a Road Safety Campaign this week.

Both are set to run from Jan 20 to Feb 9, 2025, with the theme "Drive Carefully, Arrive Safely."

The special operation aims to monitor, detect, and take action against road users who violate traffic laws. The focus will be on nine key offenses under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).

These offences include speeding, running red lights, overtaking across double lines, emergency lane abuse, queue-cutting, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts/helmets, heavy vehicles driving on fast lanes, as well as overloading.

As part of the campaign, JPJ will organise over 30 awareness programs, including exhibitions and seminars. The department will also distribute safety kits in collaboration with strategic partners, including the media.

JPJ urges road users to adhere to traffic rules, ensure their vehicles are well-maintained, and plan their journeys by referring to highway travel time advisories. Drivers are also advised to rest at designated areas if feeling fatigued.

JPJ is committed to reducing road fatalities and injuries by at least 50% by 2030. Road users are encouraged to report any traffic offenses during the festive period via the MyJPJ app or by emailing aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
