- XPENG XOS 5.4 OTA Update Rolls Out Globally - Malaysia Included
XPeng officially rolled-out its first XOS 5.4 over-the-air (OTA) software update. This is set to deliver enhanced safety, intelligent driving, and personalisation features to customers worldwide including Malaysia.
Despite XPeng Malaysia not announcing this OTA roll-out, social media posts by XPeng G6 owners indicate that this update is indeed accessible for Malaysian XPeng owners.
At the forefront of this update is the AI Guard system, which is a comprehensive suite of safety tools designed to enhance vehicle security. Sentry Mode actively monitors and records suspicious activity near an unoccupied vehicle, such as unusual movements or prolonged loitering similar to that of Tesla.
When triggered, the system sends instant alerts to owners via the XPeng app, ensuring users remain informed of potential threats. Based on details from an owner's social post, all this footage will be saved to any USB storage device connected to the car.
Another key feature, the Driving Recorder (Dashcam), captures crucial moments during travel, securely saving footage for later access. However, XPeng notes that regional regulatory restrictions may limit the availability of this feature in select markets.
XOS 5.4 also upgrades existing features in the G6 such as the onboard AI assistant. Renowned for enabling voice command control, it now supports multiple languages including English, French, German, Cantonese and Thai, thus catering to XPeng’s growing global customer base - sorry no Bahasa Malaysia just yet.
In addition to this, the enhanced smart driving capabilities now include Smart Speed Limit Recognition. This has the ability to identify critical road signage, such as "No Entry" or off-ramp markers, fostering safer and more informed driving.
Meanwhile, the improved Personalized Operating System 2.0 introduces multitasking split-screen functionality and greater customisation options for infotainment layouts using the XDock system.
According to XPeng, the new X-Combo feature automates common in-car tasks like enabling child locks when the vehicle is shifted into drive. Additionally, charging visuals now feature a northern lights-inspired animation plus the driving range display, calibrated to NEDC standards for more accurate and reliable information for users globally.
XPeng with the XOS 5.4 rollout claims to exemplifies XPeng’s commitment to advancing its AI-defined mobility capabilities through innovation and privacy-conscious development. The company also continually enhances safety, usability, and offers more personalisation options to owners for a truly connected driving experience.
