At last, we now have confirmation, along with a slew of pretty official pictures, confirming which electric vehicle (EV) was gifted by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently.

Speculation first rose when Datuk Seri Anwar initially confirmed receiving the gift early last weekend ahead of the Turkish leader’s official two-day visit to Malaysia that concluded yesterday. Datuk Seri Anwar then vowed that he will ‘return’ the EV when his time as PM concludes.

The exact model gifted by Erdogan is a homegrown Turkish EV SUV known as the Togg T10X.

The EV was “gifted to the nation,” argues Datuk Seri Anwar on his decision against taking personal ownership of it, which has been revealed through official photos to be the Togg T10X – Türkiye’s own homegrown EV SUV. President Erdogan famously became the model’s first owner too.

Initially, it was speculated that Erdogan may have gifted the T10X’s grounded T10F fastback saloon model instead. Nonetheless, based on details available via Togg’s official website, both models share the same single rear e-motor setup choice available that puts out 218 HP and 350 NM.

Like most of its European and Chinese counterparts, the Togg T10X has bucketloads of tech primed on board. It even has a coveted 5-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating.

The Togg T10X gifted by Erdogan to PM Datuk Seri Anwar was even used as part of the official motorcade during Erdogan's recent official visit to Malaysia.

Besides a claimed 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 7.4 secs, Togg touts a maximum WLTP-rated range of 523 KM for the ‘long range option’ T10X primed with an 88.5 kWh battery pack. For reference, a ‘standard’ version is also available with a smaller 52.4 kWh battery pack and a lower 314 KM claimed WLTP range figure.

More impressive is the fact that 22 kW AC charging ability is available as a cost-option, whereas 180 kW DC charging ability comes as standard, promising 20-80% re-charge time of just 28 minutes too. Additionally, Togg also proudly touts a 5-star Euro NCAP rating for this EV SUV.

During Erdogan’s brief but evidently packed official visit, both he and PM Datuk Seri Anwar still managed to squeeze time for a test-drive in the Togg T10X, with the latter at the wheel and the former sitting beside as a passenger. You can watch how that went down in the embedded video below.
