Mazda EZ-60 Powertrain & Interior Specs Revealed – BEV & REEV Available
Mazda’s new EZ-60 SUV will come in both BEV and REEV powertrains, plus a screen-laden interior setup.
In case you missed it, Mazda has got a new electric model under its arms, and it is known as the EZ-60. Ahead of its inaugural public debut at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2025, we’ve been given more details regarding both the powertrain and interior specs of this sleek SUV crossover.
As reported prior, the EZ-60 will underpin the same EPA1 modular architecture as Changan’s Deepal S07 EV SUV, as well as both the Mazda EZ-6 (also known as Mazda 6e in overseas markets) and its subsequent Changan twin, the Deepal L07. And just like its saloon twin in China, the EZ-60 will also be available in both battery electric (BEV) and range-extender EV (REEV) forms.
According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the EZ-60 REEV will use a 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp petrol engine as its core, plus a 31.7-kWh battery pack and a single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 255 HP. While Mazda hasn’t shared the figures, the related EZ-6 REEV offers up to 160 KM of pure electric range and up to 1,300 KM of combined range.
As of now, Mazda has yet to unveil the specs for the BEV EZ-60, but we can expect them to harbour similar setups as used on the Deepal S07. For reference, the top-spec S07 is powered by a 255 HP (190 kW) single RWD motor setup, plus an 80-kWh ternary NMC pack that promises up to 628 KM of range.
While we’ve already seen the exterior design of the EZ-60, Mazda has recently revealed the innards of this midsize SUV, where it gets a pretty high-tech cabin with tons of amenities.
The crown jewel of the EZ-60’s cabin is the massive 26.5-inch infotainment screen that spans across the front dash with a 5K resolution, plus an even larger 100-inch augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD) that projects key driving information onto the windshield. Unfortunately, Mazda has to remove most of the physical buttons and controls to make way for these large screens, so it won’t be as driver-centric as other Mazdas we knew.
Other creature comforts Chinese buyers can expect here include heated and ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, a 23-speaker sound system, more than 20 storage compartments, a 320-litre boot space with a 126-litre frunk (front trunk), tons of soft-touch trims and materials, and many more.
As we mentioned prior, the all-new Mazda EZ-60 will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2025 motor show, where we can expect to learn all the things about this sleek SUV crossover. Beyond the Great Wall, the EZ-60 will be making its way into other overseas markets, where it will be known as the Mazda CX-6e.
