In an innovative move to boost Malaysian travel around the country, Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing has unveiled the "Malaysia: Truly Asia" high-speed train in Qingdao, China.

The train, according to Tiong, acts as a "moving invitation" for Chinese citizens to see Malaysia's delights, encased in vivid images of the country's many attractions and culture.

Taking it to his official Facebook page, the minister shared several photos from the launch event, showcasing traditional Malaysian cultural performances and the "Malaysia: Truly Asia" high-speed train itself that featured a "Visit Malaysia 2026" logo on its exterior, and Malaysian attractions on each carriage.

Supported by China Hongqiao International Investment Co., Ltd. and Hongqiao International Cultural and Sports (Hainan) Co., Ltd., this project will showcase the long-standing relationship between Malaysia and China by promoting Malaysian tourist spots such as Malacca, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur through uniquely themed train carriages. 500322128_1271790400980402_4390122432562484795_n.jpg

Tiong hopes the train would encourage more Chinese citizens to discover and fall in love with Malaysia's rich history, delicious food, and stunning landscapes, marking the start of a new chapter in Malaysia-China cultural and tourism cooperation.

“Each carriage is packed with the spirit and beauty of Malaysia, from the lush mysteries of tropical rainforests and stunning seaside paradises to the historical charm of Malacca and George Town in Penang, the urban allure of Kuala Lumpur’s Twin Towers, and the familiar tastes of nasi lemak, satay, and teh tarik,” he says.
