Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the long-awaited KLIA Aerotrain is set to resume operations as early as July 1, following successful trials after years of suspension.

He confirmed that the project has been completed and will soon undergo additional testing, including the Emergency Response Plan assessment, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

“If everything goes well, it will begin operations at 10am on July 1," he says, adding  that the Aerotrain will boost KLIA’s service and image, with shuttle buses running alongside to ease passenger flow.

KLIA’s iconic Aerotrain, which has served as the airport’s main internal transport system since 1998, is set to return with three train sets—two in active service and one on standby.

To allow for maintenance, according to Loke,  only one train will run during off-peak hours (12am to 5am). Each Aerotrain features three carriages and can accommodate up to 270 passengers, ensuring smoother and more efficient movement between terminals.

“We also want to ensure the trains are well maintained in terms of safety, and that is something very important.

“That’s why we have taken time to carry out various tests, including those monitored by the Land Public Transport Agency,” he stated
