Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft Turn Your Car Into Rolling Office

Working from your car? Mercedes-Benz thinks it’s time. The automaker is rolling out in-car video calls with Microsoft Teams, letting you join meetings while driving. Yes, your coworkers can now see you behind the wheel, thanks to the built-in camera.

But don’t worry, safety is still a priority. You won’t be able to view shared screens, slides, or documents unless the car is fully parked. So while others can see you, your focus stays on the road.

This feature is part of a bigger push by Mercedes to make the car more than just a way to get from A to B. It’s launching first in the upcoming CLA, and is expected to make its way into other models like the latest E-Class, especially those already equipped with selfie cameras used for apps like TikTok and Zoom. In most vehicles, apps like Teams and Zoom only work when parked. But Mercedes is flipping the script. “This is for professionals who want to be seen, even when they’re on the move,” the firm says.

It’s a feature that might excite the always-connected crowd, but not everyone’s on board. For some, the car remains the last place to truly disconnect and enjoy a quiet escape from constant notifications.

The experience starts with your camera off by default. Turn it on, and your video feed appears in the call. Just don’t expect to view anything others are sharing unless the car comes to a stop. capture_1752690350334-922811.jpg
And there’s more. Mercedes is teaming up with Microsoft to integrate its 365 Copilot system. That means you’ll be able to manage your day, check your calendar, and respond to emails, all using voice commands while driving.

The idea, according to Mercedes, is to turn your vehicle into a “third workspace,” right behind your home and office. Of course, not everyone wants that. Some would rather keep their car as a screen-free zone. Untitled-design---2025-07-18T154151.084.png
Still, it’s clear where things are heading. Cars are becoming part of your always-on, digital life.
