- Three Dead, 12 Injured in Motorcycle Convoy Crash on NSE
A tragic multi-vehicle crash along the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Seremban early this morning claimed the lives of three motorcyclists and left 12 others injured, NST has reported.
Seremban police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the accident occurred at around 2.30AM at KM262.5 (northbound), involving a convoy of motorcyclists heading to Kuala Lumpur from Senawang.
“Initial investigations show that three motorcycles collided while using the middle and right lanes, causing the riders to fall and triggering a chain reaction,” he says.
Twelve other motorcycles behind them crashed into the fallen riders. Several motorcyclists were thrown off their bikes, and a passing car and lorry were also struck. Three motorcyclists died at the scene, while 12 others were taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital. Two are in critical condition and being treated in the ICU. The bodies of the deceased were sent to Rembau Hospital for post-mortem. Hatta urged all road users, especially motorcyclists, to ride responsibly and avoid dangerous behaviour such as weaving between lanes or speeding.
He also appealed to witnesses to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Tiew Chuan Jie, at 014-9668399 or head to the nearest police station.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
