A fleet of high-end vehicles, including a RM3 million Rolls-Royce Cullinan, were among 53 cars recently impounded by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during a special crackdown across the Klang Valley.

Conducted under Ops Luxury 2.0 from July 30 to Aug 1, the enforcement exercise targeted luxury vehicles operating without road tax or insurance.

Also seized were several performance and exotic models such as the Lamborghini Huracan, Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, BMW i8 and an unnamed Mercedes-Benz model that had reportedly gone untaxed and uninsured since 2022.

JPJ confirmed that three of the seized vehicles were being driven by foreigners, one of whom was caught using a forged international driving permit allegedly bought in Dubai for RM5,000.

According to JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, these cases reflect a worrying trend among some luxury vehicle owners who are knowingly bypassing legal obligations. He said some tried to downplay the violations, claiming they had “forgotten” to renew their road documents, but added that such claims do not justify breaching the law.

The enforcement team had monitored the targeted vehicles through covert surveillance before executing the operation. In addition to expired documents, other offences detected included driving without a valid licence, improper use of registration plates, and various vehicle compliance issues.

All 53 vehicles have been sent to JPJ impound yards for further inspection and action under the Road Transport Act 1987. The agency reaffirmed that Ops Luxury will continue at regular intervals as part of its commitment to road safety and legal compliance.

This follows a similar nationwide operation in June where 101 luxury cars were confiscated. The department has warned that there will be no leniency for those who flout transport laws, regardless of status or vehicle value.
